Bhagsu cake

Bhagsu cake is my version of delectable non baked dessert originally from Bhagsu a small, beautiful land near Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. It is very similar to the millionaire shortbread but is even more indulgent and buttery. The original recipe was created by the owner of the singh corner shop in Bhagsu. It became extremely popular and found it's place on menus in cafe's all over the region. It is named after the god of Bhagsu village, Bhagsunag. let's know how to make it.

Ingredients required:

  • 200gm of digestive biscuit
  • 100gm of salted butter
  • 150gm dark chocolate
  • 80gm of condensed milk
  • butter paper

Method of preparing it:

  • crush the biscuits and mix in melted butter for the first layer

  • For the second layer, steam condensed milk for 45min at 200 degrees Celsius in a pre-heated oven.

  • For the third layer, melt some dark chocolate.

Note: If you feel like the chocolate and condensed milk alters are too thick and hard to spread, you can mix in some cream to make them easier to use.

  • Now take a tin of your choice of shape.

  • Now cover the inner side of it with butter paper

  •  Now put the first layer of digestive biscuit, spread it evenly
  • Now add second layer of condensed milk, spread it evenly
  • Now add third and the last layer of the melted dark chocolate, spread it evenly
  • Lastly, it can be garnished with your choice of sprinkles, coconut or dry fruit
  • Set it overnight and it's ready
